I Love Blackberry. I Am Your Father
After trying most of the new phones of the time, a few years back I got a Blackberry. I don't need the corporate or push stuff.. but gladly paid extra for what I think is the single best piece of phone hardware I ever owned.
No, make that STILL OWN. .. it's been offline for two years and still rock solid. Lent it to a family member for a while and it is back again. Never had a battery change, the keyboard works and I could type on it faster than anything I've owned since. But the new OS, the positioning of "hip" and especially the ads I've been seeing on Hulu.com are JUST WRONG. .. they tout BBM as like it's a new and better way to share stuff. Huh? This article went one farther.. suggesting BB could be the "social media phone" Funny, the people who don't get social media carry Blackberrys. I think every Social Media type I know has an iPhone. I use and Android phone, love Blackberry and whine often about those dang AT&T locked cool kid fashion accessories.. but COME ON BLACKBERRY .. you've got to do better than this to surviveAmplify’d from socialmediatoday.com
Given this foothold, maybe a logical strategic direction for RIM is pushing to become the social media smartphone. Rather than trying to out-Apple Apple, RIM should tightly integrate Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, etc. so they become a seamless part of the BlackBerry experience.
